Last June, in an effort to support children and families during this difficult time when the covid-19 doesn’t seem to disappear any soon, Eastern Social Welfare Society decided to support domestic adoptive families by sending them a kit with necessary items that would be helpful for them to go through this hard time. Some of the parents even lost their job while many of families have difficulties with more living expenses caused with their children not being able to have free meals at schools they used to have.
102 families to be supported were chosen out of the list submitted through 6 of our adoption offices in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Daegu, Daejeon, and Busan. This package consists of hygiene items like masks and hand-wash and food including rice, canned food, ramyun(Korean instant noodles), and soy bean sauce.
One of the adoptive parents who received the kit showed his sincere gratitude by sending us a long message saying that “We had a great surprise last night. There is no one item that is not needed for our family in the support kit box. For our family, it was like a present from Santa or like a present with love from a hometown when we are far away from home. This was huge enough for us to doubt if we are entitled to have this gift. We were very moved to receive this present with warm-heart especially when everyone is having difficulties due to the COVIP19. Thank you very much.”
ESWS is always grateful for our domestic and overseas adoptive parents and feel sorry that we were not able to support every single adoptive family this time due to the circumstances. However, we will continue our mission of respecting lives through offering all the children left alone in this society a family so that they can be raised by loving parents at home.
